Wrapped in Golden Silence

About the Work

Wrapped in Golden Silence is a meditation on surrender, divine love, and the transformation of painful memory. The figure stands within the warmth of the setting sun as though she is being held by something greater than herself—surrounded, softened, and gradually released from what she has carried.

The golden light becomes a manifestation of God’s love: warm, enveloping, and without judgment. It does not erase the past, but changes the way it is held. Memories once shaped by pain begin to lose their sharpness, becoming quieter and more tender as they are surrendered into something larger than the self.

There is a deeply intimate exchange at the center of the work—the moment when resistance gives way to trust. The figure is not escaping her memories; she is allowing them to be transformed. What once existed only as hurt begins to coexist with gratitude, compassion, and even love for what has passed.

The setting sun reinforces this sense of transition. Its light exists only briefly, yet while it remains, it touches everything. In the work, that fleeting warmth becomes symbolic of grace: an energy that surrounds the body, penetrates the emotional landscape, and reminds the figure that she does not have to carry every experience in the form in which it first arrived.

Wrapped in Golden Silence ultimately reflects on the possibility that surrender can change our relationship to the past. Painful memories are not forgotten, but released from their original weight and allowed to become part of a larger, more loving understanding. Enveloped in golden light, the figure rests within the feeling of being seen, protected, and held by God’s love.

Created from Lisa Bayer’s original photography and layered digital composition, the work is produced on archival canvas and individually finished with hand-painted acrylic interventions, giving each piece a distinct physical surface, depth, and presence.
